LIKE IT OR NOT: THE RIVALRY LIVES

WHAT?!  NO!!  Wait… I thought you said the rivalry lives.

It does.

WARNING:  Do not tell TexAgs, Aggieland Outfitters, or any Longhorn fans about this.  You will land yourself in an unnecessary Facebook argument.

Unlike Santa or Obamacare coverage, there is concrete proof that the rivalry between the Texas Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies exists, and it never stopped.  While the two teams may not play each other in football anymore, there are other sports out there, still battling it out under the blanket of poor (if any) media coverage.

We know what you’re thinking.  Here goes another Aggie who can’t let it go.  Actually, this is about as unbiased as an article can get.  Keep reading, and you’ll see that a Minnesota Golden Gopher fan could have written it.  Maybe it was a guest column written by a Western Kentucky Hilltopper.  Maybe Scrotie the Nad from the Rhode Island School of Design wrote this.  You don’t know…

A divorced couple doesn’t need football to battle out a rivalry.  The Sharks and the Jets didn’t have football teams.

So here it is.  This is the Texas vs. Texas A&M Rivalry since the “end” in 2011.

2012-2013:
Volleyball (Longhorns win 3-1 in the NCAA Championship)
Men’s Tennis (Aggies win 4-3)
Women’s Tennis (Aggies win 4-2)
Ice Hockey* (Aggies win Pride of Texas Cup and go 8-0 against Longhorns)
Men’s Soccer* (Longhorns go 3-0 in three games)

2013-2014:
Women’s Basketball (Longhorns win 69-58)
Volleyball (Possible playoff game this Friday night)
Ice Hockey* (Aggies currently 2-0 over Longhorns with three games to go in season)
Men’s Soccer* (Teams had a 1-1-1 record in three games)

*Hockey and Men’s Soccer are club sports; so only count these games if you want.

Scholarship Teams:
Aggies and Longhorns are tied at two athletic wins each since 2011.

Scholarship and Club Teams:
With all the hockey games played between the two, the Aggies would take a 13-6-1 Barbed Wire Cup lead over the Longhorns, but this is a Pure Texan blog, therefore, we just can’t let that be the advantage.  We’ll call it a 2-2 tie for now.

IF YOU SAY THERE IS NO RIVALRY:
You are sexist against women’s sports, and it will be your fault when Wendy Davis loses the Governor’s race because of how sexist your sexism is.

But hey!  Don't take our word for it.
