THE SO-CALLED "ILLUSION OF CHOICE"

Following the debates last night, many Republicans were excited to see the spark in Mitt Romney that has been almost non-existent thus far.  Mitt’s glassy-eyed smile and relaxed confidence against Obama’s “uh, uh, uh” composure even led James Carville to express that Romney had performed better in the debate.

But not all “Republicans” are happy.

 

The Ron Paul contingent has not faded from the scene.  These grassroots enthusiasts took to Facebook and Twitter with their continuing warnings of voting for the lesser of two evils.  The most commonly used phrase of the evening amongst Ron Paul supporters was that this debate was “an illusion of choice.”

With all due respect to the hard-working (or constantly toking) Ron Paul revolutionists, it’s time to take advice from Metallica and “Turn the Page.”

This “illusion of choice,” according to Ron Paul fans is that Obama and Romney, or as the diehards say, “Obamney” are both lying through their teeth to get elected, and that Mitt Romney is no different than Obama.  While Romney is not as conservative as many…  well, ok, ALL of the other GOP candidates, it is safe and accurate to say that he is MUCH different from Barack Obama.  He is successful with money, we know where he is from, and we know his religion.  That right there shows differences between the two.  But this “illusion of choice” argument will collapse on itself when you evaluate the final effect the Ron Paul Revolution will have in November.

LIBERTY

The objective of the Ron Paul Revolution was to elect a President who will fight for liberty and protect us against the growing federal government.   The objective was not to elect a specific man.  If Ron Paul’s Libertarian views are what you want in a candidate, VOTE FOR GARY JOHNSON.  By voting for Ron Paul, you aren’t cutting the GOP vote in half.  You’re cutting the liberty vote in half.  At the end of the day, you’ve voted against someone with the EXACT same platform as Ron Paul by being stubborn and voting for Ron Paul.  You defeat yourself.  And if you’re ready to face reality, a vote for Ron Paul is a vote for Barack Obama.  Would you vote for Barack Obama?  Then don’t vote for Ron Paul.

RAND PAUL

Rand Paul is the son of Ron Paul.  Leading into the Texas GOP Convention, Rand Paul announced his endorsement of Mitt Romney.  That same day, Ron Paul said in a speech, “I’m not going to be the nominee.”  Hint, hint

BARACK OBAMA

Is voting for Ron Paul worth having Obama for four more years?  Think about it.

HERMAN CAIN

Herman Cain said it best.  “If you’re not going to vote for Mitt Romney because your favorite candidate didn’t get the nomination, well guess what.  MY favorite candidate didn’t get the nomination either!  It’s time to support Governor Romney and get Barack Obama out of office!”

BIG BIRD

If you’re really concerned that Mitt Romney is going to shut down PBS, go back, listen carefully to his whole sentence, and remember, “This program was made possible by viewers like you.”  If you’ve never donated to a PBS pledge drive, then you have no room to worry about Mitt Romney pulling the plug on “Sesame Street.”  You should instead write letters to the Sesame Street residents urging them to build a homeless shelter for Oscar.

When you think voting for Ron Paul is going to make a statement to the GOP leaders, the President, Congress or result in the actual election of Ron Paul, you are wrong.  You become the easiest swayed supporters of Barack Obama and the fastest end to Gary Johnson’s Libertarian campaign.
