10 GUIDELINES FOR DEBATING AGGIES

ARGUING WITH AGGIES 2012
Debate Qualifications

The Texas Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies will not be playing each other in 2012 in any sport.   With no game to watch between the two teams this November, there have been many debates as to which team is better.  For your debate, the Barbed Wire has been kind enough to offer you the following debate guidelines:

1)   Did you or anyone in your close family attend the school on whose behalf you will be debating for?

2)   If your team’s only two losses were to #2 Florida and #6 LSU by a total of 8 points, would you say your team sucked?  If not, you may still debate, but you may not claim that Texas A&M sucks.

3)   How has your team performed against ranked opponents this year?  Note: claiming that “Louisiana Tech doesn’t count” is a false claim.  They were ranked.  Sorry for any inconvenience in your debate.

4)   Is your team ranked?  Note:  The claims “we were,” “we will be,” and “we should be” will not count to your credit in your debate.

5)   Will this debate cause you to revert back to a game from last year to argue your case?

6)   Is your team willing to play Texas A&M this year?  (This is a simple YES or NO question)

7)   All statistics, scores and facts must be taken from the current football season, not past or future seasons.

8)   Conference speculation will not count to your credit in this debate.  For example, “A&M couldn’t have won in the Big 12 this year.”  There is no way to prove whether or not they could have.  (Granted, those fierce Jayhawks make a tough case for the Aggies.)

9)   If you have, at any point, made the claim that the Aggies are “irrelevant” or that Texas A&M “doesn’t matter to (your team),” you may not participate in the debate.

10)                   Do you have something better to do with your time right now?
